Tommy Baldwin Racing and Steve Park combined for a 13th-place finish on Saturday in the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona. Park, in his first Sprint Cup race since 2003, was on the lead lap throughout the night and even led the race at one point.
Driving the Car of Tomorrow for the first time, Park was able to steer clear of a wild, 21-car wreck with just 12 laps to go and narrowly missed a top ten finish.
“What a great weekend all around. It was nice to pay tribute to someone we all looked up to at a early age and it was a also great boost in the arm for Steve Park. I hope it let’s the world know he’s still capable not only to represent great companies but also can back it up on the race track,” said team owner Tommy Baldwin, Jr. “And once again TBR showed that with some backing we are capable of running well and putting on a show for the people who support us.”

Great idea to put Steven back in a car and to pay tribute to a driver that most of us grew up watching in the Northeast and who was our hero! Could have gotten a better picture though! Hopefully I can be there to watch it all unfold! Good Luck to TBR and Steven Park!!! I am a proud of both of you!!
So excited for the Richie Evans car with Steve Park behind the wheel. So proud to be even a small part of this!
I for one am about sick of tributes, but I’ll have to say that this one is long overdue. Good Luck to Steve, Tommy, and all the shop personel at TBR!!!
I am so proud of Steve Park and all the accomplishments that he has made in racing and I am sure Mr. Evans would be proud to have him for the driver. I hope this is the beginning of a great LONG career for Steve with Tommy in Nascar. Thank you, Tommy!

I donated 100 .. if you find it under my paypal account of connsparkie@yahoo.com .. you can either put SPARKIETOUR OR CONNSPARKIE OR MELISA HAWKSLEY .. or what ever you want .. when I clicked on the “confirm purchase” a new screen appeared and there was a square on the lower left hand side that asked for the name on the vehicle.
great to see a tribute to Richie Evans and from guys I raced with at Islip
Us Long Island Guys got to stick together. I grew up watching Bob Park and Tommy Baldwin Sr. run at Islip and Riverhead, so my 100.00 donation in my company name (Chief Chimney Services, Inc Smithtown) is well spent.
BTW: I remember Dutch Schaefer run
Almost forgot, good luck Tommy Jr. and Steve P
Just left my donation, glad you took the suggestion. Now Tommy, just give him a fast car…we know he knows how to qualify! Good luck, I hope it works out! I’ll be watching if I can’t get down there!
I grew up on LI (Baldwin, NY) and now reside in Dawsonville Ga. Have been a big S. Park fan…glad to see he is getting back into a sprint cup car. Between the mid 60s and 70s I went to Freeport Speedway or Stadium and sometimes Islip…although I was too young to be able to tell you who I was watching…My uncle raced at Freeport for several years in the divisions below modified…I believe bomber division and late model, sportsman? Some Demo Derby. Going to donate now and look forward to seeing Steve in the Tribute car at Daytona.
Glad to see a great project.

Donated in loving memory of Rich Lassig. He was the one who took our son, John, from Dawsonville (above) to the races at Freeport and Islip (John was a toddler and never lost his love for the sport). Good luck–we’ll all be rooting for you in future races.

The #36 Chevy will feature a throwback orange and black paint scheme with the fans’ names sponsoring the car integrated into the design. Richie Evans, “The King of Modified Racing”, won eight consecutive Modified Championships from 1978 to 1985. [...]

It is great to see Steve and Tommy together. Its great to see them Honor one of the best racers ever. I got to see the man race many of times and he was one of a kind. I am glad to be a part of this as a Sponsor in Memory of my Dad Dom Sarro The Ironworker.
I am so glad that someone is giving Steve Park a cup ride.
My wife and i have followed Steve in his racing career and met Steve at Dover 2 times. He is one of the nice guys in racing and i wish him great luck!
I just wish i was a rich man i would donate the funds to put Steve in a full time ride in either trucks, nationwide or cup!
I’m glad to donate to this I know steve will make the race and give the car a good run.
Good luck to Steve and Tommy at Daytona. Been pulling for Steve since Dale put him in the #3 AC Delco Chevy and was witness to his emotional win at Rockingham a week after NASCAR lost the Intimidator.
Good Luck Steve! We all support you & are excited to see you behind the wheel @ Daytona! Your a good guy and this is for a good cause.
Good luck to Steve Park, couldnt be happier for him. Now go get em and show em you still got what it takes!!!!!
I refuse to use PAYPAL as i have been ripped off by them too many times in the past. Is there any other way to donate to Steve and Tommy’s car. Would love to be able to help…
thank
Riverhead Rules!!!!!!!!
Steve Park: Long Island’s favorite son.
Go to Riverhead!!
Is that guy selling pretzels and smoking cigarettes still alive?
Just found out about this tonight and couldn’t wait to get home and help at least a little.
Was lucky enough to see Richie and Steve race several times at Lancaster Speedway in Western New York.
Truly what a great idea and so excited to see the car in July!! Good luck to you all
A GREAT IDEA , HOPE YOU WOULD DO THIS FOR A MODIFIED RACE AS WELL , NASCAR SHOULD HAVE MODIFIED RACES BEFORE THE CUP RACES NOT ON SATURDAY . BUT THEN NASCAR IS NOT THAT CREATIVE OR LISTENS TO FANS . WILL SEND YOU A CHECK AND THANKS FOR THE PROMOTION AND CREATIVE WAY TO PAY TRIBUTE TO RICHIE EVANS WHO SHOULD BE IN THE NASCAR HALL OF FAME , ROBERT ALTMAN –RFD
My checks in the mail. I’m suprised to not see familiar names from Rome,NY or the immediate area. Come on hometown fans, where are you. I certainly appreciate the effort made by Tommy Baldwin and Steve Park. We need to support this because we all know Richie belongs in that next class to the Hall in Charlotte.
GREAT to see the LI guys back together! The best of luck on this match up & hope the race is yours. Steve
Ditto to what Buster stated on June 6. It will be cool to see an orange and (hopefully) black tribute car on the track. It would be nice if NASCAR would allow use of the 61 for this tribute to make the car look complete/correct. Great effort guys! Good Luck.
I think Tommy Baldwin and Steve Park are both great racers and I know Tommy will see a great interest in his team by giving Steve Park a chance in his car,Steve has an enormous amount of loyal fans that have stuck by him and hopefully this will help Steve renew his cup career.I am a big Chevrolet fan and I wish Tommy and Steve would team up together for more then just Daytona and build a great team at TBR
Steve go get them glad you are back On the track .My friend randy Smith Spotted for you and always said you can do it so KICK SOME ASS JULY 3RD
I THINK IT’S SO GREAT YOU ARE DOING A TRIBUTE TO RICHIE – WATCHING HIM RACE AT UTICA -ROME SPEEDWAY IS HOW I STARTED TO LOVE RACING ,YEAH #61
THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE THAT HAVE MISSED STEVE ON THE TRACK AND TO BE BACK ON THE TRACK WITH TOMMY MAKES IT EVEN BETTER.
I KNOW WE ALL WISH IT WAS FOR MORE THEN ONE RACE BUT WHO KNOWS WHAT CAN HAPPEN.
THE TRIBUTE CAR IS A GREAT IDEA I CANT WAIT TO SEE IT OUT ON THE TRACK. I REMEMBER SEEING RICHIE EVENS AT A LOT OF TRACKS FROM ISLIP TO POCONO AND HE WON MOST OF THE TIME.
HE WAS AWESOME.
GOOD LUCK GUYS!
GO GET’EM STEVE!!!!!
THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE PULLING FOR YOU.
WE REALLY NEED YOU BACK OUT THERE.
Mage my donation just heard about it on Speed, go Steve go! Tommy hope you can make this long term we really miss having Steve out there.
Would be great to see the car with a number 61. Im assuming the number has been retired.
Congratulations to Steve Park and the entire Tommy Baldwin Racing organization on the great 13th place finish at Daytona…..awesome job everyone !!!!
Do you plan on updating the web site? Has the web site been discontinued? Are there any sponsorship prospects? Will TBR be a start and park the rest of the year? If so is Casey Mears prepaired to weather the storm w/ TBR? It’s pretty frustrating to check this web site two or three times a week only to see the latest news being “Casey Mears is back w/ TBR” and underneath it “38 days ago”.
It’s obvious TBR is going through a tough stretch, economically we all are. We all understand how tough it is, so whats the big deal about posting that it was a frustrating weekend at Indy, give us a little background on what went wrong and the plans for next week. How long can that take?
I know Pocano uses up alot of gas and tires. The expense is to much for an unsponsored team to race a full race but we’re all pulling for to qualify. Good luck.
