Dave also brought home the victory in the Nationwide race at Charlotte in 2006. While Dave has experienced success in the NASCAR ranks, his true passion lies in dirt racing. Throughout his career, Dave collected more than 200 Sprint Car wins. He was the World of Outlaws Champion in 1995 and finished runner-up four times. He won the Knoxville Nationals in 1997 and the USAC Silver Crown Championship in 1984.
