Race: FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series: 11 of 36
Track: Dover International Speedway
Track Length: 1 mile
Date: May 15, 2011
Dave Blaney and the Tommy Baldwin Racing (TBR) team will head to the Monster Mile this weekend for the FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks. Blaney looks to drive the No. 36 Golden Corral Chevrolet to a solid finish in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) event at Dover International Speedway.
TBR AT DOVER – Blaney will make the TBR’s fifth start at the Monster Mile as the team looks to complete the race for the first time in its history. Mike Skinner posted TBR’s best starting position in the 2009 spring race; he started 34th.
BLANEY AT DOVER – Making his 20th start at the one-mile track, Blaney looks to complete his first race at Dover since 2008. The Buckeye Bullet posted his best finish of ninth in the 2008 spring race while teamed up with crew chief Tommy Baldwin at Bill Davis Racing. His average starting position is 29.8 and finishing position is 27.8.
KIDS EAT FREE – TBR will compete to feed America’s families again this weekend, as Golden Corral returns to the No. 36 TBR Chevrolet. If the No. 36 Golden Corral Chevrolet finishes in the top-10 in the FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks, two kids will get a free kid buffet on Monday, May 16th with the purchase of an adult buffet. Golden Corral will also donate $5,000 to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
CHASSIS NO. 93 – TBR will run the No. 93 chassis this weekend at Dover International Speedway for the first time this season. The Golden Corral team last ran chassis No. 93 at Darlington Raceway in 2010 when a practice incident damaged the car. The team completely rebuilt the chassis in the off-season.
LAST RACE RECAP: SHOWTIME SOUTHERN 500 – Locked into the race for the first time in team history, the No. 36 Golden Corral Chevrolet started from the 41st spot. Blaney quickly worked up to the 31st spot in the opening laps. The team battled the handling of the No. 36 Golden Corral Chevrolet for the majority of the day, and Blaney wheeled the car to a 24th-place finish.
IN THE POINTS – The 24th-place finish at Richmond moved the No. 36 Golden Corral team up another spot in the NSCS Owner Standings. The team is now 32nd and 16 points ahead of the 36th spot. Blaney also moved up to 31st in the NSCS Driver Standings.
MANPOWER TO HORSEPOWER – Manpower to Horsepower, a disabled veteran’s vocational rehabilitation program, will have their logo on the No. 36 Golden Corral Chevrolet as part of a campaign to show support to members of the military. With approval from the Veteran’s Administration, Manpower to Horsepower is an accredited program through the Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and offers a certificate program in Motorsports Management Technology for military veterans with physical disabilities. LIGHTHOUSE MISSION – The Lighthouse Mission logo debuted on the No. 36 Golden Corral Chevrolet at Daytona International Speedway and will be present for the entire 2011 season. TBR has teamed up to help the Long Island based-charity build awareness and raise funds for Lighthouse Mission. For more information on Lighthouse Mission, visit www.lighthousemission.net.

Dave Blaney Quotes:
ON DOVER – “Dover is one of my favorite places. I like the shape of it and the way it races. I’ve had some good runs at Dover in the past. Our team needs to keep the momentum going since we made it into the top-35. We need to have some more good finishes and not make any mistakes.”
Tommy Baldwin Quotes:
ON DOVER – “I love going back up north, so I’m looking forward to going to Dover this weekend. I like the track, and our team has run well the last couple of races we competed.”

About Tommy Baldwin Racing:
Tommy Baldwin Racing was formed in 2009 by NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Crew Chief Tommy Baldwin. Baldwin utilized a slumping economy to open a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team for a fraction of the cost. The team competed in two full seasons with multiple drivers behind the wheel of the No. 36 Chevrolet and improved in the standings each year.
Based in Mooresville, N.C., TBR will compete in the full NASCAR Sprint Cup schedule in 2011 with NASCAR veteran Dave Blaney piloting the No. 36 Tommy Baldwin Racing Chevrolet. Looking to improve on-track performance and increase the number of races they complete, TBR is still seeking partners to support their racing efforts. TBR’s driver development program, Heinke-Baldwin Racing, will also compete in various NASCAR series in 2011.

go to the front dave top 15 would be great have clean safe race good luck guys!!!!
Great job guys securing a sponsor. The last three races obviously excited a few people, including myself. Can’t live in the past though, which leads me to prac. 1 speeds. Not sure why speed is down from last year, but it seems TBR needs to find a couple mph to be competitive. Tommy commented the car was much better after Blanney’s best run but only gained a fraction. Are you using an ECR motor this weekend? Slightly worried this weekend. Concerned about the lack of speed, also about the handling, one in the same. It’s hard to see 23.10 as an attainable goal. Time to get aggressive and find a way. It would be nice to know which engine and chasis you’re running each week.
good luck TB run hard
Good luck sun tom dave and team sun. Hope u get a top ten go get em
