Race: Aaron’s 499
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series: 8 of 36
Track: Talladega Superspeedway
Track Length: 2.66 miles
Date: April 17, 2011
Tommy Baldwin Racing (TBR) will race to feed American families in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) Aaron’s 499 at Talladega Superspeedway (TSS) this weekend. Dave Blaney will pilot the No. 36 Golden Corral Chevrolet in the 500.08-mile event.
TBR AT TALLADEGA – TBR made four starts at the Alabama track since the team’s inception in 2009. Blaney started from the team’s best starting position of seventh in the 2010 fall event. Robert Richardson collected TBR’s best finish of 18th in the fall 2009 race.
BLANEY AT TALLADEGA – Blaney will make his 19th start at the superspeedway since his debut in 2000. He collected one top-five in 2007 while driving for Bill Davis Racing, where he started from the outside pole and finished third. Last season, the Buckeye Bullet started seventh in the TBR No. 36 but mechanical issues relegated the team to a 42nd-place finish.
KIDS EAT FREE – Golden Corral returns to the No. 36 TBR Chevrolet this weekend and will once again hold the Feeding American Families promotion. If the No. 36 Golden Corral Chevrolet finishes in the top-10 in the Aaron’s 499 this weekend, kids will get a free kid buffet on Monday, April 18th with the purchase of an adult buffet. Golden Corral will also donate $10,000 to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
CHASSIS NO. 27 – TBR will run chassis No. 27 this weekend at TSS. The team ran the chassis in this year’s Daytona 500, where the No. 36 Golden Corral Chevrolet was poised for a top-10 finish before a late-race incident ended the team’s day early.
LAST RACE RECAP: SAMSUNG MOBILE 500 – Blaney started the Samsung Mobile 500 from the 38th position. The No. 36 Accell Construction Chevrolet struggled with handling as the field raced into the night. Blaney and the TBR team worked to make the car better and finished 30th.
IN THE POINTS – The No. 36 Golden Corral Chevrolet is currently 38th in owner points, six points outside the top-35. Blaney is currently 34th in NSCS driver points.
TOP-35 IMPORTANCE – Starting at Martinsville Speedway, the 2011 NSCS Owner Points will guarantee the top-35 teams a starting spot each week. The No. 36 TBR team’s main goal of the weekend is to work their way into the top-35 and guarantee a spot in the race at Richmond International Raceway. If the No. 36 Golden Corral Chevrolet moves into the top-35 this weekend, it will be the first time since the team’s inception in 2009 that TBR will have a guaranteed starting spot, which would allow the team to focus solely on race day setup instead of qualifying.
LIGHTHOUSE MISSION – The Lighthouse Mission logo debuted on the No. 36 Golden Corral Chevrolet at Daytona International Speedway and will be present for the entire 2011 season. TBR has teamed up to help the Long Island based charity build awareness and raise funds for Lighthouse Mission. For more information on Lighthouse Mission, visit www.lighthousemission.net.

Dave Blaney Quotes:
ON THE TWO-CAR DRAFT – “The draft is very different now. It makes it a lot harder on the single-car teams like us. We did a good job at Daytona but as we got to the front we lost our drafting partners to their teammates. Having one race under our belts will help us with strategy for the race this weekend.”
Tommy Baldwin Quotes:
ON GOLDEN CORRAL – “We are thrilled to have Golden Corral back on board. We had some great coverage at Daytona and almost finished in the top-10. It was really exciting to race for American Families and try to win them free meals. Our team will work hard this weekend to finish in the top-10 to have kids eat free on Monday and support the DAV.”

About Tommy Baldwin Racing:
Tommy Baldwin Racing was formed in 2009 by NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Crew Chief Tommy Baldwin. Baldwin utilized a slumping economy to open a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team for a fraction of the cost. The team competed in two full seasons with multiple drivers behind the wheel of the No. 36 Chevrolet and improved in the standings each year.
Based in Mooresville, N.C., TBR will compete in the full NASCAR Sprint Cup schedule in 2011 with NASCAR veteran Dave Blaney piloting the No. 36 Tommy Baldwin Racing Chevrolet. Looking to improve on-track performance and increase the number of races they complete, TBR is still seeking partners to support their racing efforts. TBR’s driver development program, Heinke-Baldwin Racing, will also compete in various NASCAR series in 2011.
