Bobby Labonte, Jonathan Cash & Luke Baldwin Make-Up Busy Schedule MOORESVILLE, N.C. – Sadler-Stanley Racing, an open-wheel modified team owned by former NASCAR driver and TV personality Hermie Sadler and Virginia Attorney and State Senator Bill Stanley, announced their 2024 driver lineup Tuesday. The 2000 NASCAR Cup Series champion, Bobby Labonte, will return to the team for three NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour races and select SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic events. Labonte will compete in NASCAR action at Richmond (March 29), North Wilkesboro (October 5) and Martinsville (October 26). His full SMART Modified Tour schedule will be announced at a later date. Jonathan Cash will make the jump to full-time competition in the No. 16VA, racing for the title on the SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic. Luke Baldwin, a rising Modified driver and son of former NASCAR Daytona 500 winning crew chief Tommy Baldwin Jr., will also run the 7VA full-time on the SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic. Baldwin’s focus will be to race for the title, but also the Racing Electronics Rookie of the Year in his move to Tour-Type Modifieds in 2024. The team will continue to operate with PSR Chassis machines. PSR has won the last two SMART Modified Tour titles with Burt Myers and Caleb Heady. SS Racing co-owner Sadler, the 1993 NASCAR Xfinity Series Rookie of the Year, said the team is eager to provide opportunities to some new drivers. “It’s been really cool to watch drivers like Bobby Labonte and Ryan Newman win in our cars, but now the goal is to provide opportunities to deserving drivers that are trying to make a name for themselves,” Salder said. “Jonathan and Luke fit what we are looking for…. Pace-O-Matic works every day to provide opportunities to small businesses across the states they operate in… and they always fight for the little guy… our goals on the track this year will be to mirror what Pace-O-Matic believes on and off the track with our teams.” The SS Racing team has been in existence for two years and won multiple events. The team won two races in 2022, including a once-in-a-lifetime win in the return to North Wilkesboro Speedway with the SMART Modified Tour with NASCAR legend Ryan Newman driving. In 2023, the SS Racing returned to Victory Lane twice on the SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic with Labonte piloting the No. 18VA to victory at Tri-County Speedway and Orange County Speedway. Co-owner Bill Stanley is eager to see the team hit the track for the first time at Florence Motor Speedway on March 2. The full SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic schedule includes 15 events spanning across multiple southern states. The team plans to run just under 20 events during the 2024 season. “The 2024 season is shaping up to be exciting for our team,” Bill Stanley, team co-owner, said. “Having young drivers like Jonathan Cash and Luke Baldwin running with Bobby Labonte for our Pace-O-Matic team is special. Racing with these PSR Products chassis machines at historic tracks will be a thrill to watch as we contend for wins and a championship in 2024.” Labonte needs no introduction - as the 200 NASCAR Cup Series champion - he’s a proven winner in multiple different disciplines. A part-time Modified schedule for him in 2024 leaves him with one goal: win. “I can’t thank Hermie and Bill and everybody at Sadler-Stanley Racing enough,” Labonte said. “We ended the year with two great wins and I’m looking forward to being part of the team again in 2024 for our limited schedule together. I really appreciate the support of Pace-O-Matic and their commitment to racing and the team. I’m also happy to continue to represent Cook Out in our events. I can’t wait to get started.” Cash, who owns P&P Speed Shop, a racing kart engine and maintenance shop, is excited for the opportunity to go full-time Modified racing. He competed in his first Modified event at Hickory Motor Speedway in 2022 for SS Racing and also competed in 2023. Cash is excited to continue to build on his experience-level in open-wheel, high-speed Modifieds. “I’m really excited to have the opportunity to drive for SS Racing and PSR Products in 2024,” Cash said. “I’m looking forward to trying to contend for the championship. The last two years, I have run a couple of Modified races each year and had fast race cars in all of them. I want to thank Pace-O-Matic, Hermie Sadler, Bill Stanley, PSR Products and their entire crew and everyone else involved in the opportunity.” Baldwin has quickly grown to a winner. He picked up multiple victories and the week-long championship at New Smyrna Speedway’s World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing in 2023. He also made his debut on the CARS Pro Late Model Tour, scoring an 11th-place finish in his debut. His jump to Tour-Type Modifieds is something he is excited to see happen. He will also compete part-time in 602 Modifieds for his family-owned team, beginning at New Smyrna in February. “Definitely couldn’t be more excited for this opportunity to join Sadler-Stanley Racing,” Baldwin said. “This team was on fire the last half of the year and I honestly can’t believe I’m joining them. I’m very excited to grow even closer with this team and build on our relationship. I am extremely grateful to be presented the opportunity and can’t wait to go out there and make the most of it. We’re fighting for Rookie of the Year, but personally, I want to get more than that. I want to win races and this team is more than capable of doing that.” The month of March will be busy for SS Racing, kicking off at Florence Motor Speedway on March 2, followed by Caraway Speedway on March 10, South Boston Speedway on March 23, Richmond Raceway (NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour) on March 29 and Tri-County Speedway on March 30. Full-Time SMART Modified Tour Schedule With SS Racing, Select CARS Tour Pro Late Model Races With TBR Part of Busy Calendar
MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Tommy Baldwin Racing and Sadler-Stanley (SS) Racing announced today plans for Luke Baldwin to compete during the 2024 race season in Tour-Type Modified events. Baldwin will step up to Tour-Type Modifieds driving for SS Racing in the entire SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic schedule in the No. 7VA. He will also compete in a part-time CARS Pro Late Model Tour schedule for Tommy Baldwin Racing and additional select 602 Modified events. His season schedule will begin at Caraway Speedway in 602 Modified racing on Saturday, January 27, followed by back-to-back days of racing at Auburndale Speedway in the 602 Modifieds on February 8 and 9. He will then roll to New Smyrna Speedway’s World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing in February with four 602 Modifieds events, where he will defend his 2023 World Series title. For SS Racing, Baldwin will drive a PSR Chassis. “I’m grateful for the opportunity that Sadler-Stanley Racing has provided to get into some top-notch equipment in my jump to Tour-Type Modifieds,” Luke Baldwin said. “I’m excited to get to the first race at Florence and continue to build on experience every time we go to the race track together. Our goals will be to race for the Racing Electronics Rookie of the Year and go out there and try to win my first race… the team is definitely capable of doing that. The potential is endless in this deal.” “The opportunity to run CARS Tour Pro Late Model events for TBR is also special because we will do it as a family,” Luke Baldwin continued. “We gained some crucial experience last year with Walker Motorsports and will continue to build on everything we’ve learned and go out there and race against some great competition in select races.” Baldwin’s CARS Tour Pro Late Model events will be at Orange County Speedway on April 20, North Wilkesboro Speedway on May 14, Hickory Motor Speedway on July 27 and Ace Speedway on August 9. Tommy Baldwin Racing’s full 2024 driver lineup and schedule will be announced soon. Piloting Mayhew Tools, Tommy Baldwin Racing 7NY MILFORD, Conn. – The Doug Coby and Tommy Baldwin Racing pairing will be back together again this weekend. The Mayhew Tools No. 7NY will be on track on Saturday, September 30 at North Wilkesboro Speedway for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Brushy Mountain Powersports 150. The Whelen Modified Tour visit to the North Carolina oval will be the first in series history. The track was revived recently after many years of being closed. The NASCAR Cup Series All-Star event took place there in May and the Cup Series will be back in 2024 for another All-Star race. Coby is excited to get behind the wheel of a Modified at the track. The last time Coby and Baldwin raced together they sealed the Whelen Granite State Short Track Cup crown at Monadnock Speedway on September 9, with a top-five finish. The group has been part-time for the second half of the season since team owner Tommy Baldwin Jr. announced a cancer diagnosis. The part-time schedule allows Coby and Baldwin to have only one goal: winning the race. “I don’t think any of us truly know how long the cars might last or how hard we might have to go,” Coby said. “I think it will be a track position race. You pay attention to how races at places like Myrtle Beach and Lee USA played out… it’s going to be a chess-match to make sure you’re in position to have a chance to win.” “With Tommy going through his treatments, it’s definitely difficult for him to do some of the things he would have normally done before, but having a chance to bring the 7NY to North Wilkesboro with a chance to win there, especially with what this race signifies, it’s important,” Coby said. “The team is all looking forward to going there and racing.” NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour teams will have two practice sessions on Saturday, followed by Mayhew Tools qualifying at 5:15 p.m., and the green flag for 150 laps at 8 p.m. For those who will not be able to catch the action live, fans can watch on FloRacing.TV. Fifth-Place Finish at Monadnock Speedway Captures Bonus Title WINCHESTER, N.H. – Doug Coby and Tommy Baldwin Racing returned to NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour competition on Saturday night at Monadnock Speedway and they were celebrating after 150 laps in New Hampshire. Coby finished fifth in the Winchester Fair 150 in the Mayhew Tools 7NY, but the finish was enough for the team to capture the second annual Whelen Granite State Short Track Cup championship crown. The Cup, which included three races at Monadnock Speedway, Lee USA Speedway and back at Monadnock on Saturday night, saw Coby grab three finishes inside the top-six, including a win at Monadnock in May. By winning the Whelen Granite State Short Track Cup, the team collected at least $5,000 in bonus awards. Coby returned to action Saturday for the first time since Thompson Speedway in August. Team owner Tommy Baldwin Jr. announced a cancer diagnosis and the team stepped back from full-time competition and missed the last two races. They couldn’t pass up returning to chase the Granite State Short Track Cup crown. “Just to be here with our family and Tommy battling cancer, I mean, he’s a warrior,” Coby said. “He told us from the beginning that he was going to fight through this and he’s been courageous enough to share his battle and everything on social media, which is uncommon. To be here as the Whelen Granite State Short Track Cup champions, it just means a lot. We’ve got a great group of guys and Tommy really wanted to be here to do this. This one is for Tommy Baldwin.” For more information on Doug Coby, visit DougCobyRacing.com and follow his page on Facebook for the latest news and updates, including from the track on race day. MOORESVILLE, N.C. – After two races off, Tommy Baldwin Racing announced today that the team will field a Mayhew Tools No. 7NY entry for Doug Coby in this Saturday’s NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour 150 at Monadnock Speedway. Coby and Baldwin enter the event leading the point standings for the Whelen Granite State Short Track Cup, which will conclude Saturday night. The Cup awards a bonus of $5,000 to the team that captures the most points over three events. Coby picked up the win in round one of the Cup at Monadnock back in May and finished sixth in the second race at Lee USA Speedway to enter this weekend in the lead. The team is also eligible for additional bonuses from the Cup, including a lap leader bonus from all three events combined and the best average finish over the three races. The team has the opportunity to collect over $6,400 in bonus money, plus any winnings collected for finishing position on Saturday. It made the decision to attend a no-brainer. Last month, Tommy Baldwin Jr. announced a diagnosis of cancer and is currently undergoing treatments. The team is not returning full-time on the Whelen Modified Tour for the remainder of the season, but will come together to chase the Cup crown at Monadnock. Baldwin is selling Baldwin Strong stickers on his website, TommyBaldwinRacing.com, and donating final proceeds to the Matheny School. His goal is to share awareness and have everyone know they are all in it together when fighting through health issues. “After winning at Monadnock in May and leading the Cup standings heading into Saturday, we really wanted to make this event happen,” team owner Tommy Baldwin Jr. said. “I’m thankful for everyone’s support through my announcement and treatments - it’s been incredible and our entire family couldn’t be more grateful. The team will be ready to roll into Monadnock to chase the Cup title, but also another win for Mayhew Tools and everyone involved with Doug and our team.” Coby has one goal in mind for Saturday: win. “We had a great car last time at Monadnock, it was dominant all day,” Coby said. “This will be a little bit of a different race being at night compared to the day time back in May. As far as Tommy wanting to have a car prepared and go to the track, it’s good for him to be able to have something different to focus on and he said he feels good enough to make it happen, which is great to hear. With the race now 150 laps, you will probably be able to go harder and really battle for spots earlier in the race. There will likely be some serious battling on restarts to keep or gain track position.” Saturday’s event schedule at Monadnock Speedway includes NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour practice from 2:55-3:55 p.m., followed by qualifying at 5:30 p.m. The estimated green flag time for the Winchester Fair 150 is set for 8 p.m. Tickets for the race are available in advance at JDVProductions.coom. The event will air live on FloRacing.TV for those who can’t make it to New Hampshire. The car, out of the Tommy Baldwin Racing stable, will be overseen by TBR veteran short-track Modified crew member Glenn Dixon and the PSR team.
Heady is the defending champion of the SMART Modified Tour. So far this season, Heady is fifth in the championship battle with one victory. The SMART Modified Tour runs a points system where the top three in points after the penultimate race of the season will advance to the final race with a shot at winning the title. In that final race, the driver who finishes ahead of the other two wins the championship. Heady is looking to make it back-to-back. TBR owner Tommy Baldwin Jr. announced earlier this week that he was taking an indefinite leave of absence from racing for cancer treatments. The opportunity for PSR to maintain the car made it all possible. “I’m thankful for the team at PSR and Glenn Dixon for helping to make sure Caleb has a chance to defend his SMART Modified Tour title this year,” Tommy Baldwin Jr. said. “The amount of support and well wishes sent to myself and my family over the last few days has been incredible. We appreciate each and every one of you.” For more information on PSR Products, visit PSRProducts.net. For more information on Tommy Baldwin Racing, visit TommyBaldwinRacing.com. Today, I post with news that no one ever wants to hear… I have cancer.
It’s treatable, but this past week of racing will be the last for a while for the Tommy Baldwin Racing team. Going to take a break & begin treatment to beat it into the ground. This is not a post for pity. I want to let the world know that if you don’t feel right, go get checked out by a doctor now. Don’t wait. If I can save one life by posting this, I have done my job. Never be scared to go see the doctor - it could save your life. Take the message & share it with those you love before it’s too late. I will beat this challenge like every other. The grind begins now! Thanks to everyone for the support. See you all at the track as soon as possible. #$uckCancer THOMPSON, Conn. – Doug Coby started second and led laps early at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park on Wednesday night, but didn’t have the car he needed in the final laps to contend for another Thompson win.
The Mayhew Tools, Tommy Baldwin Racing No. 7NY was strong early, jumping out front and leading laps. The team rolled to pit road at the halfway point, along with the rest of the field, for fresh Hoosier rubber, and right after the stop, Coby chased the back bumper of eventual winner Justin Bonsignore looking to pounce to get back out front. However, the car faded a bit in the final laps, and he ended up eighth. “We adjusted at the pit stop and it wasn’t where it needed to be,” Coby said. “We were running second there after the restart and I felt like if I could have passed Justin (Bonsignore) for the lead and controlled the restarts we might have had a shot, but the car just wasn’t good enough for us to be able to run how we needed at the end.” For more information on Doug Coby, visit DougCobyRacing.com and follow his page on Facebook for the latest news and updates, including from the track on race day. Race Advance by Souza Media MILFORD, Conn. – For the first time, Doug Coby will sit behind the wheel of a car prepared by Tommy Baldwin at Thompson Speedway on Wednesday night. Although the two have worked together just over one year, won races, and competed at various tracks, Thompson hasn’t come up yet on the list with Coby driving the No. 7NY. Now, the opportunity is here for Wednesday’s NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Thompson 150 presented by FloSports. Entering the thick of the summer and the championship battle, Coby will need a strong run at Thompson to help himself crawl back into that title battle. He is currently fourth, 42 points out of the lead, with eight races remaining. If he wants to capture his seventh championship in 2023, the time is now to start making ground. Coby has watched Baldwin have speed at Thompson over the years. The No. 7NY has been to Victory Lane in multiple Open Modified shows in the past few years and won the pole with Jimmy Blewett driving last year during the Whelen Modified Tour event in August. In his own career at Thompson, Coby has six wins to his credit. He finished third in this race last year driving his own No. 10, and led 77 laps in the World Series last October in his own ride. “Thompson is a track where you can move around and find what works better for you and your car,” Coby said. “It can be really fun when you come in for tires on a pit stop and then everyone tries to get back through the field. We will see how it unfolds this time around. It’s probably a lot of the drivers' odds-on favorite track to race as long as the pavement works with you and allows for a good race. Tommy’s car seems to have been good on the long run there the last few times out and it usually comes down to managing tires and not falling off on the long run lately at Thompson. I have a ton of starts there and I was lucky enough to go on a nice run of winning with the No. 2 team to win some races there. We’re looking forward to it with the Mayhew Tools team.” Thompson’s race day schedule includes NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour practice from 4-5 p.m., followed by Mayhew Tools qualifying at 6:20 p.m., and the green flag for the Thompson 150 presented by FloSports set for 8 p.m. The event will be live streamed on FloRacing.TV.
