SOUTH BOSTON, Va. – Talk about a way to score your first career win.
Luke Baldwin drove the No. 7VA to the front of the field and held off the best of the best in Matt Hirschman over the final laps to become King of the Modifieds on Sunday at South Boston Speedway. In the third race of the SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic season, Baldwin drove the Sadler-Stanley Racing, Pace-O-Matic, Mohawk Northeast entry to Victory Lane for his first career Tour-Type Modified win in just his third career start. The win came with a $20,000 prize and the crown in Victory Lane for Baldwin. “I can’t believe it,” Luke Baldwin said. “The car was a rocket ship. All of the guys at Sadler-Stanley Racing and PSR Chassis did a great job. It’s a ton of pressure (over the final laps battling Hirschman) - but, I always say pressure is privilege. I’m thankful for everyone who makes this possible.” Luke passed Matt Hirschman for the lead prior to pit stops just after halfway in the King of the Modifieds 125, then after pitting, had to get the lead back. He led the final stretch of the race and held off Hirschman, who was close behind, in the stretch run to the checkered flag at the Virginia track. While Luke won with Sadler-Stanley Racing, Tommy Baldwin Racing also fielded the historic 7NY in the race, with six-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Doug Coby driving. After qualifying 11th, Coby spun early. But after some adjustments mid-race, Coby charged through the field, avoided major damage in a pile-up on the backstretch late, and scored a solid third-place finish in the Dominion Energy machine. “It was pretty wild, this track is so fun and so fast,” Coby said. “We had a ton of damage front and rear, but we came home third. Really happy for Luke on his first win and thankful for Tommy and his team for having me here. This SMART Modified Tour is really fun.” Former Daytona 500 crew chief Tommy Baldwin Jr. was ecstatic about his sons first career Tour-Type Modified win. “I was watching Luke more than I was watching the 7NY out there,” Tommy Baldwin Jr. said. “He put on a clinic with that much speed and talent. The two kids (Carson Loftin, winner of the first two SMART race and Luke, winner Sunday) are putting on a show down south. I don’t even know what to say." Tommy Baldwin Racing will be back on track with Coby at Richmond Raceway for the second race of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season on Friday, March 29. Luke will return to racing with Sadler-Stanley Racing at Tri-County Speedway on Saturday, March 30.

FLORENCE, S.C. – Tommy Baldwin Racing drivers Jack Baldwin and Luke Baldwin both had success Saturday night at Florence Motor Speedway.
Jacked sealed the night by capturing the victory in the opener of the Carolina Crate Modified Series, driving the No. 7NY in a final lap dash battle to the finish. Luke made his Tour-Type Modified debut in the SMART Modified Tour Peanut Patch 99 with Sadler-Stanley Racing and scored a top-five finish. Jack qualified on the pole earlier in the day, inverting to fourth and running inside the top-five for the whole 62-lap Crate Modified race, before making the move for the win in the final corner. Luke posted the fastest lap time in his first official Tour Modified practice in the PSR No. 7VA for the Sadler-Stanley Racing group. The team, owned by former NASCAR driver Hermie Sadler and Attorney and Virginia State Senator Bill Stanley, is Luke’s official home for the full SMART Modified Tour season in 2024. He also qualified the car in third spot in time trials and started second after the redraw. “Excited to win another Crate Modified race, especially being able to get to Victory Lane at Florence,” Jack Baldwin said. “Slate (Myers) had a fast car tonight. I hate that it came down to him spinning, but I was as low as I could possibly go without hitting the inside wall. Florence is a fun track. We were able to ride a bit early then close a large gap over the final 30 laps to be in position to win. I can’t thank everyone on the TBR team and PSR enough.” Both Baldwin brothers attended Florence events with the help of their respective team members and PSR Chassis members, with Tommy Baldwin Jr. at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with Rick Ware Racing. “Super proud of everybody involved with this team for what we accomplished at Florence,” Luke Baldwin said. “We showed race winning speed all the way through the day, and if a few things went my way, we may have had a shot at winning it. We had a solid second-place run going until a late race restart where I made some mistakes and fell to fifth. Nothing to hang our heads about. Huge thanks to all the guys at Sadler-Stanley Racing, Bill Stanley, Hermie Sadler and PSR Products. The car was a rocket ship and they made my job easy. Also, thanks to Pace-O-Matic, The Stanley Law Group, and Mohawk Northeast for making it happen. Congrats to Carson Loftin on his first career win.” Next up for the Tommy Baldwin Racing team will be for Luke driving the No. 7VA for Sadler-Stanley Racing in the second SMART Modified Tour race of the season next Sunday, March 10 at Caraway Speedway. Jack Baldwin is currently slated to return to the seat during the summer in the SK Modifieds at Stafford Motor Speedway.
