Souza Media Press Release for Tommy Baldwin Racing MOORESVILLE, N.C. – Luke Baldwin and Walker Motorsports jointly announced today that Luke Baldwin will make his CARS Tour debut in the No. 15 Pro Late Model in the CARS Pro Late Model Tour race at Hickory Motor Speedway on Saturday, April 22. It will be the first of three straight starts for Baldwin in the car – as he will follow the series to Ace Speedway on May 5 and North Wilkesboro Speedway on May 17. Additional events during the 2023 season are also possible. Baldwin is off to a hot start on his 2023 season – winning two races and the World Series of Asphalt Stock Racing 602 Modified championship in February at New Smyrna Speedway. He will return to the seat of the 602 Modified on Saturday, April 15 at Hickory Motor Speedway for a 50-lap event, one week prior to the CARS debut. He also already finished top-five in a Late Model at Hickory in March for DLP Motorsports. “I’m extremely grateful for this opportunity and couldn’t be more excited to work with Chris Walker and his guys,” Luke Baldwin said. “I had a blast in the Late Model last time out and I’m pumped to be able to do it again. I feel pretty confident going into it since it’s a track where I have some experience already and I think all of the guys at Walker Motorsports will give me a great piece. I’ll be running against a lot of the top drivers in the Pro Late Models, but I think it will be a good challenge, and we’re ready for it. I have to thank my parents, Salty Dog, Scott Anderson and Furniture by Walker, along with everyone else to make this happen. I’m blessed to have the opportunity to do it.” South Beach Marina on Hilton Head Island, SC is home to the Salty Dog Cafe. Race Recap by Souza Media
RICHMOND, Va. – In many ways, the second round of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season looked to be shaping up like another strong podium finish for Doug Coby and Tommy Baldwin Racing. In the Mayhew Tools No. 7NY, Coby qualified sixth on Friday for the Virginia is For Racing Lovers 150 at Richmond Raceway, but mother nature brought rain, winning the night, and rescheduling the race for Saturday, April 1. At the outset of the event, which took place after the NASCAR Xfinity Series race, Coby rode inside the top-five, and it wasn’t long before a round of pit stops in the middle of the race that Coby was out front and pulling away from his challengers. However, a caution just inside the final 50 laps stacked the field up again and Coby was chasing the back of eventual first-time race winner Austin Beers on the restart. While running second after the restart is when the day changed. The handling on the car drastically turned where Coby was lacking grip. The crew did find an oil leak after the race. Coby drove what he had left to finish 13th in the 150-lap race. “The handling of the car was drastically different just after the last restart,” Coby said. “I don’t know if I had anything for the 64 (Beers) to try and win, but I had a strong top-three or top-five finish at least before we had that happen. By the end of the race, I just had no grip. Thanks to the Mayhew Tools and TBR guys for working hard over what ended up being two days at the track.” The next event on the calendar for Doug Coby and the Tommy Baldwin Racing, Mayhew Tools No. 7NY team together is at Stafford Motor Speedway on April 29-30 for the NAPA Spring Sizzler, a $20,000 to win race.
